Thank you for joining me for taking a look at the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro case for the brand new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. I have always been a fan of the Supcase Unicorn Beetle cases, I’ve used them on my S9, LG G8, and now this S22 Ultra. The Supcase UB Pro cases are known by their users to be incredibly durable and ultra protective cases. For the S22 Ultra, this case is a two piece model. The top portion is a hard plastic frame that snaps onto the front side of the s22. This piece is used to lock the bottom piece in and provide rigidity on the top bottom and sides of the case. Once this case is locked together, the seal is so tight that I’m confident there’s no normal drop scenario that the case will ever separate. When cases separate they can potentially cause damage to your phone. The bottom portion of the case is the main mechanism for drop absorption. It’s a mix of hard plastic and a rubber like material. This should provide excellent corner protection on drops and be able to absorb those awkward drops where your phone sort of tumbles out of your hand. Supcase rates the drop protection at a maximum of 20ft. This model case does come with a belt clip that’s hard plastic and seems to be built well. I don’t personally use these but this is a good addition to the case for the price. The case’s back side also supports a kickstand. The phone can be set up to stand up for meetings with the selfie camera or be laid down on its side for watching videos for example. The bezels of the top and bottom of the case are raised relatively high to help ensure the screen will not make contact when dropped onto the floor or a sidewalk or parking lot for example. The USB-c port is protected with a durable rubber plug to help ensure water moisture and other contaminants don’t make their way into the charge port. I really like this feature, I believe on my past phones it helped keep the port in good shape longer than the cases that did not block off access to the port. Getting the S-pen out is still very easy, no obstructions. The back side of the case provides a generous clearance to keep all 4 of the cameras from touching surfaces when the phone is laid down. This case overall is very robust and strong. If you’re looking for a slim fit case that’s barely noticeable but provides no protection, this isn’t the case for you. If you are looking for the best of the best in terms of case protection, the Supcase UB Pro case is among the best for the galaxy s22 ultra. The corners use a reinforced design to absorb drop force, the sides are rigid enough to protect against those awkward drops which is important because the sides of the s22 ultra are curved, and the feeling of the outer layer is good. I don’t feel like the case is ever going to slide out of my hand at the angles I would normally use the phone at. The only downside to this type of case is that while this style provides substantial protection, it is heavier and adds volume to the overall phone. The case comes in at nearly 7 ounces, just a little bit less than the S22 Ultra itself. I do miss the older UB Pro model cases that also had screen protectors built in, this time around the case does not have any screen protection included. This style does however allow you to pick any screen protector option you might want. I will probably be going for a glass screen protector. If you know that you’’ll be whipping your phone out at work a ton or are a power user who needs solid phone protection, or maybe you know you’re a little clumsy with a phone this large, this is the case for you.
