Today we’re taking a look at the beads case for the Samsung s23 Ultra. I reached out to Whitestone Dome to send this case over for review. I found Whitestone dome when looking for screen protectors and really liked the product so I wanted to test out the cases as well. The beads case for the S23 ultra is an interesting slimmer style of case. It’s very light weight and while it does have raised bezels for screen protection, it’s very slim. I’m a huge fan of those oversized bulky cases but I can appreciate a well designed sleeker case such as this. The main case body has an incredibly smooth surface, I’d say smoother than most other cases that I have worked with to be honest. The case is made up of a silicone layer, a polycarbonate layer, and a microfiber layer. This is an interesting case construction, I haven’t seen a case like this before. This make up results in a case that feels very smooth but has good rigidity and strength while maintaining that light weight slim profile. The case body does provide that crucial screen protection element in the form of raised bezels at the top and bottom of the phone. This is desirable for scenarios where you drop your phone on a flat surface such as the living room floor or a tile kitchen floor. These bezels lift the screen a few millimeters off of a flat surface protecting the glass. The sides, top, and bottom of the case are similar to the backing material with good strength. The inside of the case, the part that meets the backside of the phone is also covered in felt which is something I haven’t seen before. The backside of the case does feature your standard camera cutout region with a raised bezel here as well. This is important for protecting those camera lenses from impact. In testing, the case allowed for wireless QI charging and I didnt have any issues with the USB-C port. There is no protective flap in this case but I don’t know that everyone needs that feature anyways. The speaker and mic cutouts were good, no sound or mic issues. The S-pen bay was a little small, it took just a little more effort to get the s-pen out than the average case that I test. It wasn’t a big deal but I would probably like to see the bay area increase in size a little bit.
If you are looking for a slimmer but stronger type of case for your S23 Ultra and like ultra smooth case surfaces, I think this is hands down the case for you. This case has more rigidity that a lot of other cases I’ve worked with but because of this layering approach it has a nice feel to it both on the outside and the inside. I think pairing a case such as this with one of the Whitestone Dome tempered glass screen protectors would be a solid phone protection strategy. Would probably give some of those bigger cases a run for the money.
