Today we’re taking a look at the Whitestone Dome Diamond case for the Samsung S23 Ultra! I first found Whitestone dome because they make some awesome screen protectors but then I saw they made cases too. Whitestone Dome was kind enough to send this over for review so let’s take a look. The Diamond case is unique in that while it is a single piece case, the backside of the case is clear. Diving into the phone protection, we have a solid TPU bumper material around the edges and corners of the phone case. I found that the thickness and compromise between rigidity and flexibility here was good. This is important for when you actually drop your phone, you want the case to absorb some of that force and ideally redistribute it. As for the corners where a lot of phones tend to make contact, they are reinforced a bit with some extra material. I like this design for corner protection, I think it’s worthwhile. In terms of the screen protection, the main case body actually extends up past the z height of the screen with its bumpers or lip. This means that when you set the phone down on a flat surface such as the floor or a desk, you can see that the screen is slightly lifted off of that surface. This is good for when your phone drops on flat surfaces, the case body will end up making contact saving the glass on your screen. This is always a favored feature of mine so I definitely look for this in cases. On the flip side, the backing material is made out of a clear sheet of polycarbonate so it’s relatively durable and importantly, similarly designed to the front. We have the backing but the TPU bumper frame of the case also acts to lift this up off of a flat surface a bit providing backside protection. On the backside of the phone we also have the camera protection zone. We’ve got the bumper cutout for not only lift but rigidity to protect those camera lenses.
In testing, I didn’t have any issues with wireless charging or plugging in the USB cable. The cutouts for the speaker and mic were good, no issues with sound there. The S-pen bay was a little small on this case but I was still able to eject and reinsert the Spen. The only suggestion I would have for Whitestone Dome is to make this a little larger next time but I wouldn’t say it detracts from the case.
Overall, I like the Diamond case from Whitestone dome. I think it is a solid value, it looks good, provides protection where you need it, and it’s competitive in the case market. I would definitely recommend the Diamond case if you needed a case for your S23 Ultra, especially if you were already checking out the Whitestone Dome tempered glass screen protectors. They make quite the combo in my option.
