Today we’re taking a look at benchmarking the Google Pixel 6a. The Pixel 6a is a budget offering from Google in the Pixel series of phones. The A models usually have great value in terms of performance to cost. With the Pixel 6a having been released for a while now, I wanted to take a look at current performance in 3Dmark, PCMark, and GeekBench 6. While the Pixel 6a doesn’t have the largest screen, I did want to make sure to take a look at gaming performance with Slingshot, Wild Life and Wild Life Extreme. The pixel 6a is actually too fast for the slingshot graphics benchmark here, as the overall score reported as “maxed out” but we can see that in GT1 we hit 56.3fps and in GT2 55.50 fps. The physics tests scored 57.7 for part one, 47.4 for part 2 and 26.10 for part three. Moving on to the wild life benchmark, this one is a bit harder than slingshot, the Pixel 6a did quite well here with an overall score of 6,934 points, with an average of 41.5fps. Somehow my Pixel 6a scored better than almost every other Pixel 6a in this test and 88% better than all other results. Not bad for a budget offering. As for the last 3dMark gaming test, I ran the extreme wild life test. My Pixel 6a scored 1,944 points with an average of 11.6fps. This test was a bit harder but this is still a respectable result especially considering my Samsung Galaxy S22U scored 2,300 to 2,400 points on average. My P6a did well versus the other entries beating 66% of all P6a’s in the test as well as beating 48% of all other phones tested. In terms of PCMark, we have the Work 3.0 and the storage test. The work benchmark tests various usage aspects such as web browsing, video editing, copy operations, document and pdf simulation, photo editing and even more. The P6a scored 10,420 points in Work 3.0 and received a score of 26,223 in the storage benchmark. Finishing this benchmarking session up is GeekBench 6. This is very popular on PC so I wanted to test it out here as well. I ran both the CPU and GPU tests. The CPU benchmark scored around 1,480 points generally with the multi core being around 3,580 points. The GPU benchmark resulted in roughly 7,000 points.
