Today we’re taking a look at the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro case for the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I have always been a fan of the Supcase Unicorn Beetle cases, I’ve used them on my S9, LG G8, S22 Ultra, and now on my S23 Ultra. The Supcase UB Pro cases are known by their fans to be incredibly durable and ultra protective cases. The Supcase UB Pro for the S23 Ultra is a two piece case model. This version of the UB Pro for the S23 Ultra came with an open front frame option if you would prefer no screen protector or to use your own but, I also came with the frame that has a built in screen protector which I think definitely increases the overall value of this case. The top portion is a hard plastic frame that snaps onto the front side of the s23. This piece is used to lock the main case body in place. When the top frame is locked into the main case body like this, I’m confident there’s no normal drop scenario that the case will ever result in separating the case. When cases separate they can potentially cause damage to your phone so this is a good aspect. The case body is the main mechanism for drop absorption. It’s a mix of hard plastic and a rubber like material. This provides excellent corner protection on drops and is able to absorb those awkward drops where your phone tumbles out of your hands. The corners are reinforced with extra material and the sides of the case have a grip section which should help with holding and not dropping the phone. Supcase rates the drop protection at a maximum of 20ft. This model case does come with a belt clip that’s hard plastic and seems to be well built. I don’t personally use these but if you have an S23 Ultra and are very active at work for example, I think this is a good addition to the case for the price. The case’s back side also supports a kickstand which is awesome for meetings with the front selfie camera or just for watching YouTube or movies with the phone on its side. The bezels of the top and bottom of the case are raised relatively higher than the actual screen surface. This helps to ensure the screen will not make contact with any flat surfaces when the phone is dropped. This is a crucial feature for a protective smartphone case and I think these are some of the biggest and bulkiest bezels on a case that I have worked with. As for the USB-C port, SUPCase has you covered with a durable rubber flap plug to help keep out water moisture, dirt, and other debris to protect the USB-C port. I really like this feature too, it has helped keep the USB ports clean for the entire life of my previous phones. Getting the S-pen out with the UB Pro is still very easy, no obstructions or issues with ejection or re-insertion. The back side of the case provides a generous clearance to keep all of the camera lenses from touching surfaces when the phone is laid down or dropped. Eyeballing it, it looks like there’s at least 3 or 4mm of distance between the lenses and where the case would meet another surface. This case overall is very robust and strong. This is the kind of case you want if you have an active kind of job where you’re using your phone all day every day or if you’re the kind of person who has bad luck with cracking screens. If you’re looking for a slim fit case that’s barely noticeable and provides no protection, this isn’t the case for you. This is a bigger case but it’s also one of the best cases in terms of Smartphone protection. The corners use a reinforced design to absorb and redistribute drop forces, the sides are grippy and rigid enough to protect against those awkward drops which will help protect the sides of the S23 Ultra, and the feeling and handling of the outer layer is good. I don’t feel like the case is ever going to slide out of my hands. The only downside to this type of case is that while it provides substantial phone protection, it is on the heavier side and adds more overall volume to your smartphone’s profile. The case comes in at nearly 8 ounces, that right there will tell you that this case is all about protecting your S23 Ultra. If you have an S23 Ultra, you probably want the best protection you can get for your Smartphone and I think the SUPCase UB Pro is definitely S-Tier. Until next time, stay charged up.
