Today we’re taking a look at the Gonez Liquid Silicone case for the Google Pixel 8. Gonez offered to sponsor this video and after taking a look at the case, I thought it would be an interesting option. The Liquid Air case is coming with the main case body as well as two tempered glass screen protectors. I thought this was interesting, typically most cases that include tempered glass screen protectors only ever seem to include one, we’re getting two here which I like to see. The case also comes with two sets of dry and wet cleaning cloths as well as two sets of dust stickers. Again, this is actually generous, I like that we are getting the full complement of prep materials and two screen protectors in this bundle, there’s a good amount of value here. In looking at the case protection factor, the tempered glass screen protector covers most of the screen on the Pixel 8. It’s relatively thick which is going to be awesome for keeping the screen safe from items your phone might come into contact with. The fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 8 at launch is kind of hit or miss. I didn’t notice that this tempered glass screen protector had any real impact on my fingerprint getting accepted, it was about the same as before so that’s good. As for the main case body, it was an easy installation, just press the phone into it and it’s installed. The case features a raised bezel all along the Pixel 8’s perimeter which is very helpful in drop scenarios on floors for example. When you drop your phone on a flat surface, the bezel will make contact with the floor first, absorbing and redistributing some of those impact forces which should keep your glass safe. The sides and top are very firm, and the bottom is a bit softer due to the charging port and the speakers. The main case body is relatively thick and on the inside there’s this microfiber lining which is kind of nice. The Pixel family is definitely embracing the big camera bezels and I think the Liquid Silicone case is doing well to protect the bezel, the cameras, and the light. The camera lens area is essentially a camera cutout. The case creates a distance of about 1 to 2 millimeters worth of distance to ensure that if you do drop your phone on a floor for example, the camera and lenses will not touch the surface. As for the overall case feel, the name is no joke, this is one of the softest touch cases that I think I have ever worked with. I like the soft touch feeling but I would say it slightly reduces your grip so when you’re half asleep at 6am make sure to take advantage of the smaller width of the pixel 8 standard and grip the phone’s sides. This case is the grey color but Gonez offers this in black, blue, green, mint green, and pink as well. In testing, the wireless charging worked well and no issues with the USB-C cable connection. So, if you are looking for a lower profile slimmer type of soft touch case for your Pixel 8, I don’t think you can go wrong here. You’re getting the cleaning prep materials, two tempered glass screen protectors, and a nice main case body. This case will offer decent protection without tipping the scales and adding lots of extra bulk and weight to the phone which helps keep the experience nice and light feeling. If you’re in the market for a solid slim profile case like this, I would definitely say keep the Liquid Silicone case from Gonez on your list. Until next time, stay charged up.
