Today we’re taking a look at the Poetic Guardian case for the iPhone 15 Pro Max courtesy of Poetic Cases. I had reached out to Poetic to send this case over for review since the Guardian series is always a desirable dual layer interlocking type of case and it allows you to retain the color of your smartphone, you did pick a color after all, why not see it! I have the blue version of the case here, but it does come in black, pink, green, and purple as well. We have two front frame options with this case, one with a built-in screen protector, my favorite, and one open frame option if you don’t want a screen protector or want to apply your own. I’m a fan of built-in screen protectors because it’s a guaranteed fit and they’re easy to install. The screen protector thickness is decent here, I think it will hold up well over time in order to keep protecting your iPhone screen through your phone’s life. Whichever front frame option you go with though, you’re still getting the benefit of that tight interlocking connection to secure your phone. Both front frame options also create a bezel on the front side of the phone to help protect your screen’s glass from flat surface drops. Whether it’s the kitchen, your basement, the office, or even the sidewalk, the bezels on the front of the case will make direct contact in flat surface drop scenarios and not your glass. This is ideal because you want the case to absorb and redistribute those impact forces in order to hopefully completely protect your glass screen. In terms of the main case body, I really like that the sides have this grip pattern built in, this will definitely help with dry and wet grip when it’s raining or snowing out. In looking at the sides, top, and bottom of the case, we have a decent amount of material here on the TPU bumper; it complements the rigid front frame well to provide some solid protection. We can see that the corners also have extra material for reinforcement, corner drops can be gut wrenching so it’s good to see we’re covered there. Flipping the phone around we can obviously see the big draw to the guardian series cases, we can see the color of our phone and the Apple logo shows up nicely in the middle of the MagSafe magnet. The backside material is decently thick and strong, I don’t think we’re giving up much in terms of protection here in order to be able to see the backside of the iPhone. The MagSafe compatibility btw is nice not only for magnetic rings but also magnetic car mounts so, definitely keep that in mind. As for the camera protection strategy for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, we have the tried-and-true built-up camera cut out region. The case forms a bezel on the backside of the phone to lift up the cameras and camera lenses so they can’t touch a flat surface in a drop scenario. It looks like we have maybe 2 or 3mm here so that’s what I like to see to keep the cameras and lenses safe. The case feel is good in my opinion and the backside dry grip is decent. This case doesn’t increase the volume and weight of the iPhone 15 Pro max too much but does offer some solid protection. If you’re looking for that nice middle ground between turning the phone into a brick for ultra protection or using one of those cases that’s more like a sleeve, I think the Poetic Guardian is a solid choice and as a bonus you get to see your iPhone. Until next time, stay charged up!
