Today we’re taking a look at the Poetic Revolution case for the Google Pixel 8. Poetic had sent this over for review along with the Pixel 8 release. I think the Revolution case is a solid value for the Pixel 8 so we’ll take a look at its protection and features. This case is a dual layer interlocking case type where the main rear case body interlocks with a front frame. Poetic is including two different frame options here, we have a frame with a built-in screen protector, which is my favorite version by the way, and we have an open frame option. The built in screen protector is a good thickness and it didn’t interfere with my thumbprint unlock which is good. If you don’t want a screen protector or you want to supply your own, you do have the open frame option. Whether or not you choose the built in screen protector frame or the open frame, the Revolution case is still going to offer some screen protection in the form of a bezel on the front side of the Pixel. This bezel is about 2mm tall extending above the height of the Pixels screen which means in flat surface impact scenarios, the case will make initial impact as well as absorb and redistribute some of those impact forces. This should ideally save your glass and keep your P8 looking clean. Lots of drops end up happening on the floor at home, the office, or the sidewalk or even the street, at least in my experience, so this is a crucial screen protection feature. In looking at the case, you can see that we have a decent amount of material on the sides, top, and bottom of this case, and the corners look good too. I think the Revolution case in general is going to offer good drop protection for the P8. The case also comes with a USB-C flap cover which is awesome, this will help keep the USB-C port working well over time by keeping out dust and debris. In looking at the backside of the case, we have in my opinion a nicer backside look but more importantly a solid backing piece. The main rear case body is relatively strong and somewhat rigid which is good for overall protection. We have a kickstand for added convenience. I frequently set my phone up on its side to play videos while I’m at work or in the kitchen, so this is a plus for me. As far as the camera protection goes, the Pixel phones have a camera bump out so, this case like many others utilizes a built-up section around the bump-out with a bezel to lift the bump out about 2mm above any flat surface the phone might come into contact with. I think this is a good level of protection for the Pixel 8 cameras so I’m happy with it. While this case was decently thick, I didn’t have any issues with wireless qi charging so that’s good to see as well. The case feel was good, this is a generally speaking smoother case design so if you do get caught in the rain, you might want a little bit of a tighter grip on it. Overall, I would say I like the Revolution case for the Pixel 8, there’s some solid protection here without turning the phone into a brick. Having the two front frame options along with the USB-c flap cover and the kickstand makes this a nice package in my opinion. I think this is a competitive option in the Pixel 8 case market.
