Today we are taking a look at Tongate’s Slim Matte case for the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. Tongate is back sponsoring another video for the S24 launch. This is the slimmer fitting and smoother touch take on Tongate’s S24 Ultra case protection. This is an interesting bundle, we have the main case body which features a sliding and locking camera door for enhanced camera protection but we’re also getting cleaning supplies, a front frame option with a built-in screen protector, another front frame that’s open, and were getting a tempered glass screen protector that can be optionally installed with the open frame. I haven’t seen a case bundle yet that included this many options. Now that we know what’s included, let’s look at the case. The main case body is made from a rigid and strong TPU material. There was little flex in most of the case, even the sides and the corners. No matter which front frame option you choose, they will both interlock with the main case body forming a tight seal. This is important to note because it likely means this case will stay together for the long haul. As for screen protection, the slim matte case has a lot going for it here. Both front frame options extend about 2 millimeters past the height of the S24 Ultra screen. This means that both versions with and without the screen protectors will prevent the screen’s glass from a direct impact in flat surface drop scenarios. If you drop your phone off your nightstand, on the kitchen floor, or even the basement floor, the frame and the case body are going to make that initial impact and help absorb and redistribute some of those impact forces. This is an important screen protection feature I look for in cases. As for the frame with a built-in screen protector, I thought the thickness was good, it seemed durable enough, and it has the fingerprint sensor area to help increase the chances of your fingerprint working more reliably. I would suggest retraining your fingerprint after any screen protector is applied though. We also have the open frame. Very similar but with no screen protector built in. IF you don’t want to use one, this is probably the frame you want. Alternatively, though, you can opt to install the included tempered glass screen protector.
