Today we’re taking a look at the Tongate Mech case for the Galaxy S24. Tongate is back sponsoring this video for the S24 launch. The Mech case is more of a bundle for the S24, we’re getting the 2 piece interlocking case, cleaning and prep materials, and includes a tempered glass screen protector. This case also offers the benefit of a sliding camera door and a kickstand. Now that we know what’s included and case highlights, let’s talk about the protection factor while I get this case installed. The Mech case offers an open front frame which tightly interlocks with the main rear case body, it was a struggle to even separate them for the install. The case basically forms a bezel around the entire perimeter of the front side of the S24. This is an important screen protection feature because in flat surface drop scenarios like your kitchen floor or the basement, the front frame which is supported by the main rear case body will take the brunt of the impact forces because the case is raised above the height of the screen. Since the case is taller than the screen all around the phone, it will always make direct contact in these scenarios which will allow the case to absorb and redistribute those impact forces reducing the chances of your S24’s glass cracking or chipping. This frame is an open frame design meaning there is no built in screen protector of film for the screen itself. Some people prefer this but if you want to really level up that protection, Tongate includes a tempered glass screen protector. The screen protector has a decent thickness and seems like its solid enough to withstand some decent drops in my opinion. Installation was relatively easy, basically just peel off the protective layer on the back, line up the screen protector using the front facing camera as a key or legend, then set it in place. You definitely want to clean and prep the screen before installing though, use the wet and dry wipes then remove and dust specs with those included dust stickers.
