Today I’m revisiting the Torras tempered glass screen protector. I posted a review last week, but you all wanted a closer look. There were two main points of concern from that video, the Fingerprint sensor accuracy and the anti-reflective qualities. First, a far as fingerprint unlocking goes, no issues for me. I didn’t need to rescan my thumbprint in order to have a reliable unlock experience which is awesome. That being said, in my opinion, you should always rescan your fingerprint after applying any screen protector, whether is plastic or glass. All fingerprints are different and so are the conditions of your skin f3om one person to the next and even the times of day you try to unlock your phone. I’m glad I didn’t have any issue here, so I’ll move on to the anti-reflective ness of this screen protector. It seems like it would not be a reliable test methodology to test this on a nice sunny day because my test results between screen protector won’t be directly comparable. Seems like the best way for me to do this is with lights in my studio. I tested recording video of the reflection of one of my set lights with and without the screen protector. Hopefully you can see what I saw in the video but there is definitely a difference here, the S24 Ultra does a better job of reducing the glare both with the screen off and on than the screen protector does. The difference in what gets reflected was enough to make out details about my Light and the housing vs just a light blob. Even though the reflectiveness or anti-glare of the screen protector is less good than the S24 Ultra itself, it’s worth noting this is a bright light at about 8 inches from the light. It’s an extreme case but it does show a difference. Also, 5his is another decently thick layer of glass that’s meant to protector the glass on the S24 Ultra. It may not be quite same quality as the built in glass, but it will end up scratched or potentially broken instead of the s24 ultras screen. You kind of have to weigh out the pros and cons here. What matters to you me and how much is that worth? Some people want thin or small profile cards to keep the phone feeling lighter, some people such as myself want to turn their phone into a brick so they can throw their phone into the street. You can craft a ticket Case with an open frame and a twenties glass screen protector or a rubber case with a tempered glass screen protector. Some people want to roll without cases, I think that’s burrs but it’s your s24 Ultra at the end of the day. Hopefully this short update video helped you think about screen protectors and your overall smartphone protection strategy a little more. Until next time, stay charged up.
