Today we’re taking a look at the Poetic Guardian case for the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. Thanks to Poetic for sending this case over for us to take a look at. The Guardian series of cases from Poetic are known for providing some solid protection but also for the transparent backing. The Guardian case for the 9 Pro XL like the others is a two-layer interlocking case design which I have found to be very strong and durable over the years. Poetic includes two front frame options, there’s an open frame if you don’t want any screen protector or want to supply your own and there’s a frame option with a built-in screen protector. The built in screen protector is made from a plastic but it’s a decent thickness and since its built in, it actually provides nearly 100% coverage. These types of screen protectors excel and prevent dust and dirt from getting into the nooks and crannies of your phone and in-between the case layers. The thickness of the screen projector is good, you shouldn’t have any issues with the normal stuff that will come into contact with your phone over time. Poetic does have a thumbprint section on the screen protector too which should allow for better unlock accuracy. Always make sure to rescan your thumbprints if you use any screen protector though. Both frames interlock with the main case body like I mentioned before. I’m a big fan of this style of case since the interlock is usually very tight and this one is no exception. Both frame options will also create a small bezel on the screen side of the Pixel 9 pro XL which will help keep the glass safe in flat surface drop scenarios. The case’s bezel will actually make contact with the floor for example, not the glass. You want the case to take the brunt of the impact forces and hopefully absorb and redistribute that protecting your glass. As for the sides, tops, and bottom of the case are all relatively sturdy which I like to see, the corners do have a little bit of extra material too which is definitely going to help those corner drop scenarios. We are getting a USB-C protection flap which is good to see, this will help prevent dust and debris from damaging the port over time. In looking at the backside of the main case body, it’s clear, you can actually see the color of the phone you bought all the time and not just when you eventually trade it in someday. The backing is made of a relatively thick material and combined with the frame, it’s quite rigid. Poetic does say wireless QI charging shouldn’t be an issue with most chargers so, that’s good. We have the tried-and-true camera cutout style protection strategy here, there’s just a little bit of a bezel protecting the Pixel bump which is what we like to see for drop scenarios. This case does feature MagSafe accessory compatibility which is nice, pop sockets and car mounting is nifty. I really like how they designed the TPU bumper and the sides of this case, those ridges are going to increase overall grip, and it will just be easier to hold on to the phone during usage. Installation was relatively easy, and I think this case is providing some solid protection so, if you like the features and the transparent backside, I would definitely recommend the Guardian for your Pixel 9 Pro XL. Until next time, stay charged up.
