The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is set to be unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22, 2025, in San Jose, California. The leaked renders make it seem like there will be a subtle redesign with less angular corners, maybe more rounded and thinner bezels. Maybe this will be the thinnest Samsung Ultra device at 8.4 mm. Ready for those Ultra Thick Cases, amirite? The display may be wider though which would be awesome. Color options are expected to include titanium, black, blue, and green, with possible exclusive online variants. For me, the color doesn’t matte much but I know some people love the translucent cases or roll with no case which is bananas. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to some camera upgrades, A 50MP ultrawide lens, up from the previous 12MP sensor.
The telephoto lens with might allowing for changes in focal length while staying connected to a single sensor. This should help improve zoom functionality and overall image quality which is a welcomed change. The cameras and screen are what really sell these phones in 2025 in my opinion. The processor should be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. A performance gain and an efficiency gain which is always welcome but, these phones are always fast so, hard to know if you will feel this in any meaningful way outside of maybe better battery life. I definitely want to benchmark the S25 Ultra to see what kind of raw performance and gaming performance we are getting. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is likely to maintain a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W wired charging, nothing exciting here. It should introduce Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, offering faster 15W charging speeds but wireless charging can definitely be finicky. I’m looking forward to picking up my S25 Ultra for release then testing processor and graphics performance as well as battery life, cases, and accessories.
