Today we’re taking a look at the Tongate 360 Spin case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Thanks to Tongate for sending over this case as well as sponsoring this video. The Tongate 360 Spin case is more of an iPhone 17 Pro Max protection kit, we’re getting the main case but Tongate is also including screen prep materials and a tempered glass screen protector which is awesome at the price point we are looking at here. The main case body is made from a harder Polycarbonate material with the frame or bumper being made of TPU which is a softer but firm rubbery like plastic. This is a really good combination of materials for building smartphone cases, the backing piece is very strong and gives form to the case and the TPU sides, top, and bottom grip on to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and provide that cushioning layer you want to look for in a smartphone case. The TPU material also extends up past the height of the glass for the iPhone screen which is super important for flat surface drop scenarios. If you drop your Pro Max on a tile floor, concrete sidewalk, or parking lot for example, you don’t your glass making that initial impact, its going to end up in sadness. Since the 360 Spin case extends past the glass by about 3 millimeters here, the case will always make that initial impact so it can absorb and redistribute those impact forces helping to increase the chances of the iphone being unscathed. On top of that, Tongate is including a decently thick 9H rated tempered glass screen protector here. We are really leveling up the protection on the phone with the addition of this screen protector which is nice. This case is rated for drops of up to 18ft which is way more than you might normally need but you might be glad that you have when something strange happens and your iphone goes flying. As for the sides, top, and bottom, the TPU holds its form really well and it’s decently thick. The corners are very strong too which I definitely like to see. Switching gears to the camera protection strategy, we have individual camera cutouts, love to see that, it’s better than being wide open for protection and it helps keep that area between the lenses nice and clean. The case also forms a bezel around the camera area which puts about 2mm between those lenses and any flat surface your iPhone might land on which is very handy. As for the case feel here, the case sides are nice and flat with some really good grippy sections, the better grip you have on the phone, the less likely you are to drop it so definitely a plus there. The case doesn’t feel slippery or anything either which is good. Wireless charging vertically and horizontally worked and the charge port was a good size. In terms of features, we are getting a combo Magsafe magnet and kickstand assembly. The magnet is actually decently strong here, seems like it should support dashboard mounting and I like that it’s open in the center area too, you can kinda use this as a loop for more holding positions. The magnet does swing out on the hinge to form a kickstand too, super useful for streaming content or video calls. You can actually spin that in any direction too for setting your phone down horizontally and vertically, nice feature in my opinion. This case isn’t going to win any ways for being the slimmest case but, we are really getting some awesome protection here from the strong PC back, the TPU frame, and that included glass screen protector. This case is really packing in the value for overall protection so if thats what you mainly want for your iPhone 17 Pro Max, I would absolutely recommend the 360 Spin case, solid choice.
