Today we’re taking a look at the standard Poetic Neon case and the Magsafe edition of the Poetic Neon case for the Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra, courtesy of Poetic cases. The Neon cases from Poetic are known for being a bit slimmer and having an interesting and unique design. Both versions of the case are dual-layer, one layer being the harder outer shell and the other being the inner much softer material that makes direct contact with the phone. The inner soft layer compliments the outer shell very well in my opinion offering solid protection with a slimmer smartphone profile. The outer shell supports the softer layer and they both create a bezel like surface on the screen side of the phone. This is an important screen protection feature because it means that the case can absorb the impact forces from a drop on a flat surface without the glass making the direct impact. Ideally we want the case to absorb and redistribute all impact forces in order to help maximize our chances of protecting the S24 ultra’s glass. There’s a good amount of material on the sides, top and bottom of this case which will help with impacts in those locations as well. The corners also look good to me, they are molded and have good thickness. Assembled, this case has a good on thickness as well, both the standard or the magnetic version of the Neon case should hold up well over time. Both versions of the case allow for magnetic charging, the Magsafe version obviously allows support for magnetic accessories such as magnetic rings or car mounts. The magnet is some strength so that’s good. The Magsafe version also utilizes the magnet ring that’s built in as a kickstand which is nice. You can set your phone up on its side to watch videos while in the kitchen or video calls for work. The backside of both versions of the case have these nice grip sections for your palms and fingertips, I liked that. The backside of the case was also built to generally be non-slip which is another plus. The neon cases use the tried and true built up camera cutout region in order to protect the S24 ultra cameras and camera lenses. This feature creates a gap about 1-2 millimeters between the lenses and a flat surface which works well with the bezel on the backside of the case, we can get those cameras and lenses up off of a flat surface so that they will not make impacts when dropped on a flat surface. I like the case feel for both of these and I think this case falls right in the middle of for protection vs slimness, somewhere in the middle which I know some people will really appreciate. If you wanted to level up the overall protection, you could apply a screen protector as well, I’d probably choose a tempered glass screen protector though. This case is coming in a competitive position in the S24 ultra market so if you like what it has to offer, I would definitely recommend this case for your S24. Until next time, stay charged up!
