Today we’re taking a look at the Simtect Soft Edge case for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Simtect is back sponsoring this video for the S24 Ultra launch. The Soft Edge case really lives up to the product name here, the first thing I noticed was the ultra-soft touch feeling and that the sides, top and corners were all quite smooth. Simtect used nano oleophobic coating to achieve this feeling. This soft feeling also extends to the inside of the case, there’s no hard plastic material, I know there’s always questions about that for cases on high end phones. The main case body here is actually relatively rigid while being very soft thanks to the triple layer design which results in a nice, finished product in my opinion. The sides top and bottom of the case are a TPU material with some flex, just enough to cushion the phone in drop scenarios in my opinion. Simtect actually rates this case at being able to protect your S24 Ultra from a 14 ft drop, not bad. As for screen protection, this case does not come with a screen protector, but it does feature raised bezels on the front side of the case. This feature is crucial for flat surface drops, if you drop your S24 Ultra on a kitchen floor or in the basement, you want the case to take the brunt of the impact forces, not your phone. The bezels on the top and the bottom of the case essentially lift up the phone body up off of a flat surface by about 1.5mm meaning, these bezels will always make contact with the floor first in those scenarios. The case can absorb and redistribute some of those impact forces decreasing the chances of your next drop breaking your phone. The case fits on the S24 Ultra relatively snuggly which is good, I don’t think this case will go flying off the phone when dropped. As for the camera protection, we have a larger camera cutout region with a sliding camera door. There is a bezel formed on the camera cutout as well though, we’re getting about 2 to 3mm worth of clearance between your camera lenses and any flat surface. The camera door itself is soft and rigid like the case body so I think it should hold up well over time. I was able to operate it with one finger which is nice, it’s actually got ball bearings in the door track, kind of nice attention to detail there. The door is locked decently tightly when clicked into place open or closed so it shouldn’t bust open when dropped. As for the buttons on the side of the case, they do have little grip sections which I like and there were no issues with any of the cutouts, speaker mic or s-pen. There’s no USB-C flap cover on this case but the opening is still a decent size for most any USB-C cable. The case did allow for wireless charging on my S24 Ultra which is awesome. This case does not support MagSafe accessories in case that matters to you. While I really like the smooth feeling this case has, it does slightly reduce dry grip vs textured cases but, if you like the soft feel, this is definitely the case to buy. Overall, I like this one, it’s got a slim profile to keep your S24 Ultra feeling light, its soft touch, and it’s got a camera door. I think it’s a great value case and a competitive offering for your S24 ultra. Until next time, stay charged up.
