Today we’re taking a look at the Supcase Unicorn Beetle Mag case for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Thanks to Supcase for sending over this case for the video. The UB Mag case is a slim and transparent case offering from Supcase for people who are looking for some solid protection but want to keep the profile for their iPhone 16 Pro Max’s relatively slim. The main case body consists of a TPU bumper on the perimeter of the case and has a relatively thick polycarbonate backing material which is sourced from Germany apparently. Supcase says this polycarbonate should resist that yellowing effect that other cases have which is nice because I subjectively really like the blue or Azure theme on this clear case with the white iPhone. For those of you wondering, this case is weighing in at just 1.87 ounces which is quite good in my opinion. In looking at the main case protection features, on the screen side of the case we have a bezel that extends up past the height of the glass screen by about 0.8mm. This might not sound like a lot, but it will definitely come in handy for flat surface drop scenarios. When you drop your 16 Pro Max on a concrete or tile floor for example, you do not want the glass to make that connection or suffer the brunt of those impact forces, this is where the bezel comes in. The bezel will make that initial contact and help absorb and redistribute those impact forces which should hopefully help protect your glass for the life of the case and phone. This case also implements the classic airbag cushioning system in TPU frame cases. The corners are made of the softer more absorbing TPU material, but they will also provide some cushioning as they are not completely solid. This will help reduce the chances of corner damage which is super important especially for those times your phone just kind of goes tumbling out of your hands, it’ll happen sooner or later to all of us. The sides, top, and bottom of this case are a decent thickness as well, they have a good form, not too hard, not too soft, I think they will hold up well to everyday smartphone use. In looking at the backside of the case and phone, we have a good-sized camera cut out region for camera protection. The bezel that is formed here is definitely large enough to help protect the cameras at a depth of about 1.7 millimeters. This bezel will help protect those camera lenses like the front side bezel, you don’t want cracked lenses ruining your photos. Supcase says that this case has generally been tested for 15ft drops so, I feel pretty confident in its everyday type of strength for protecting a smartphone. As for the features side of this case, we of course are getting a specially designed area for the camera control and we’ve got MagSafe compatibility here which is great for car mounts and those magnetic rings for better grip. This case should allow for wireless charging on most iPhone compatible wireless chargers which is great, and the charge port cutout was a decent size. There is no dust cover on the charge port though, just keep that in mind. This case comes in a few different colors actually, I have the Azure or blue color, but you can pick it up in black, all clear, crystal, glitter, glitter black, gray, or the dark color if you want the more blacked out look. Overall, I would say this is a solid case option for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, I like the protection factors, and the case features are what I would normally need. I think this case falls in a very competitive price range too, I suspect it will be a popular choice for the 16 Pro Max. Until next time, stay charged up!
