Today we’re taking a look at the Supcase UB Mag XT case for the iPhone 16. Thanks to Supcase for sending this case over in White for us to take a look at. The Mag XT case is one of the more protective types of cases for the iPhone 16 series smartphones. We have some reinforced corners here, a good amount of extra TPU and polycarbonate material to help avert corner damage. The corners also feature the air cushion design, they have a small amount of air in the middle which should help with the case absorbing and redistributing those impact forces when you drop your iPhone. As for main screen protection here, we have a bezel on the front of the case. This is that extra material that extends up past the height of the glass screen. This case has a bezel on the front side with a good amount of clearance. This bezel is important for protecting your screen because on flat surface drops like concrete or tile floors or even out on a sidewalk, you 100% do not want any part of the glass on your phone to make that initial or secondary contact with the ground. Since we have this bezel extending along the perimeter of the phone, the case will always make that initial impact on flat surfaces. The case will help absorb some of the force and redistribute that which should reduce the pressure on the glass and hopefully prevent any physical damage to the phone. As for the case in general, it’s relatively rigid, the sides, top, and bottom of the bumper on this case were able to stand up to a decent amount of pressure when I was pushing on the case. In looking at the backside of the case, we have a sleeker looking smooth design and I think it looks slick on black. I like that Supcase was able to achieve this aesthetic but included some really good grippy sections on the side of the case to increase your overall grip while handling your iPhone. We can see that this case is MagSafe compatible or ready, the magnet had some good strength to it, I was able to shake the phone with my magnetic ring and it stayed connected. This is also super handy for mounting the phone in your car. The cameras and lenses are really well protected with this case – there is a deep bezel here and we have a latching camera door which doubles as kickstand. This camera door does require a little bit of force to open and move but that’s actually a good thing, you don’t want your camera door to come loose when you drop the phone and since this door doubles as a kickstand, you don’t want the phone to fall over while you’re watching Netflix in the kitchen for example. Supcase has drop tested this case with the iPhone 16 up to 20ft which should be plenty for anyone. For a single layer case, the Mag XT here is honestly built like a tank. You can optionally level up the protection with a tempered glass screen protector if desired but that’s up to you. I like that this case also has a dust cover for the USB-C port, that will help keep it clean and working over the life of the phone. Overall, I would say this is a solid case option for the iPhone 16, if you need protection but still want some features and style, this is going to be a competitive option in my opinion. Until next time, stay charged up.
