Today we’re taking a look at the TAC Premium Onyx case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Thanks to TAC for sending this over and sponsoring this video. The Premium TAC case is a sleek thin case option for those of us looking to keep the profile of our iPhone nice and slim. The case thickness is about 1mm and the case only weighs about 20grams. The case is made from a polycarbonate plastic material and the case features a Magsafe Magnet. This case has a nice case feel to it, dry grip is pretty good and it really hugs the iPhone tightly which is also good. Installation is easy but you do want to press on the case to make sure it is fully secured. The sides, top, and bottom along with the corners of the case are all decently strong, they each resisted pressure which is nice to see, especially for when your iPhone inevitably goes flying out of your hands. As for the camera protection strategy, we have a standard camera cutout region with a bezel. This will keep those lenses up off of a flat surface by just about 1mm to keep them safe when your phone lands camera side down. The case has open cutouts for all buttons including the camera control button and I didn’t have trouble with using any of them. Wireless charging is no problem since this case is so thin and I didn’t have any issues with plugging in my USB-C charge cable. This case does feature a Magnet and it’s actually positioned and designed correctly so you can see the apple logo, pretty nifty. The magnet was decently strong here when I tested with my magnetic ring attachment. This is a relatively basic type of case but its done really well and it really keeps the overall profile and weight to a minimum for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. I think if you’re into thinner, easier to handle types of cases but you still want some protection, this is a solid choice.
