Today we’re taking a look at the Tongate Mech case with a privacy screen protector for the Galaxy Fold 7. Thanks to tongate for sending this case over for us to take a look at as well as sponsoring this video. The Mech cases from Tongate are a solid line of cases providing good protection and functionality. The Mech case for the Fold 7 is featuring a front frame with a built in tempered glass screen protector and this particular SKU has a privacy filter function which limits the viewing angle to 45 degrees tilted left and 28 degrees tilted right. The tempered glass itself is a decent thickness, this will definitely stand up better against the normal stuff that’s going to contact your outer screen over the life of your Fold 7 than the thin plastic films. Tongate includes screen prep materials here, a wet and dry wipe and dust stickers, make sure you use them for the best application. This front frame also extends up past the height of the actual tempered glass by about 1.9millimeters. That is a very useful design feature because it’s going to actually help protect the tempered glass and your actual screen. You don’t want your Fold 7 to meet a hard flat surface like concrete or a parking lot without a frame or TPU/TPC type material taking the brunt of that impact. As for the main rear casebody, this is a solidly strong piece. This is composed of TPC which is a harder type of plastic and TPU on that softer bouncier type of case plastic on the bumper sections. This is a strong combo in my opinion. The case is reinforced all along the perimeter and when it comes to the hinge mechanism, there’s some beef here too. This hinge should have no problem taking the fall damage when you inevitably drop your fold 7. The hinge isn’t textured but whatever they did here with this design patterning makes it feel almost non slip which is nice. The indent on the middle combined with the fact that the Fold 7 isn’t as wide as an Ultra means that you should be able to grip this case relatively well when the phone is folded. As for the backside of the main rear case body, a large section flips out to form a very stable kickstand. I use this on my S25 Ultra all the time for watching videos or making video calls. This backing piece also holds the magsafe magnet which is an 18n rated magnet so it should attach well to most magsafe devices which is crucial for a phone this expensive. Tongate did note this shouldn’t have any impact on wireless charging though which is awesome. As far as camera protection goes, we have the tried and true built up camera cutout section with a bezel. This is a cost effective way to ensure the case remains strong and that the case pout about 1 – 2 millimeters between the lens glass of the cameras and any flat surface that your Fold 7 might fall on. Gotta keep those cameras happy. This case bundle also includes a really solid belt clip. I find these are handy from time to time for me but if you work outside or you are always on the go, this could be a really valuable accessory. Overall, I think the protection factor is high, we’re getting some nice functionality from the screen protector, magsafe magnet, and the kickstand, and I think this will be a competitive case option for the Fold 7 case market. Right now this case is coming in at just 60 bucks on Amazon close to the Fold 7 launch and I think that’s really a fair price. If you like the way this case is set up, I would definitely recommend it. Until next time, stay charged up!
