Today we’re taking a look at the Tongate Mech case for the Samsung Z Fold 6. Thanks to Tongate for sending the case over and for sponsoring this video. The Mech case for the Fold 6 is a two-piece design engineered to provide some solid protection. The front frame element of the Mech case features a tempered glass screen protector which has a decent thickness which seems like it should hold up well over time. Tongate indicated that there shouldn’t be any touch sensitivity issues which is nice. The frame itself feels relatively rigid and it creates a nice bezel around the perimeter of the screen. This is an important protection feature for the screen because it means that if the front side of the phone lands face down on a floor for example, the bezel will make that initial impact which will allow the case to absorb and redistribute some of those impact forces. The bezels acts as a barrier or shield here to protect the glass on the Fold 6 which is good. Just make sure to remove those adhesive strips so it sticks on well. As for the backside of the phone and the case, we have a beefy main case body here. There’s little flex but the phone does feel well protected nestled in here and the fitment is good. The hinge protection mechanism here is very beefy as well, I like that it is lightly spring loaded so it will snap back into the closed position. Inside of the hinge we have space for storing the non pro version of the S pen for easy access from the outside of the case which is pretty cool. I also like the carbon fiber look on the outer hinge piece. The sides, top, and bottom of the case have some flex because it’s TPU and TPE material but there is a fair amount of structure there to protect the phone. The corners seem solid too, they did not compress much when I tried to push on them. The backside of the case body here has some good texturing designs, it’s not totally flat which will help with overall grip on the phone, and I subjectively think it looks cool. As for the camera protection, we have the standard camera cutout region which will prevent the lenses from making contact with any flat surfaces when the phone is dropped. I thought it was pretty interesting on this case model that instead of a small kickstand, the entire backside of the case is actually a kickstand. The whole panel swings out to let you prop the Fold 6 on its side and either watch a video or make a video call. Even though the case backing doubles as a kickstand, we still get MagSafe accessory compatibility here which is awesome. The magnet was decently strong, not too much power but I was able to shake the phone and case with my Anker magnetic ring. I think that the Tongate Mech case provides an overall solid amount of protection here for the Fold 6 and I think pricing wise, it’s a competitive option in the market. I would definitely recommend the Mech if you needed the protection factor, like the features its offering, and if you’re looking for a good value case. Until next time, stay charged up.
