The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, released in July 2025, is a nice refinement in Samsung’s flagship foldable phone line. It features a dramatically slimmer and lighter design than the previous models, measuring just 8.9 mm when folded and only 4.2 mm when unfolded. Weighing in at 215 grams, it’s lighter than both the Fold 6 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung has upgraded the durability with a new Armor FlexHinge featuring a water-drop structure with reinforcement, alongside thicker ultra-thin glass (UTG) and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back and Ceramic 2 on the cover screen.
The internal display is an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 1968×2184 and a 120 Hz LTPO refresh rate. The 6.5-inch cover display is also Dynamic AMOLED 2X, with a resolution of 2520×1080, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it more usable in smartphone mode. Both screens deliver peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits. Samsung has significantly reduced the crease visibility, improving the foldable experience visually and functionally.
The Fold 7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite. It includes two high-performance Oryon V2 cores clocked at up to 4.47 GHz and six efficiency cores. The Adreno GPU is optimized for high-end gaming and AI features. Memory configurations start at 12 GB RAM (LPDDR5X) with 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, while the premium 1 TB model comes with 16 GB RAM.
The camera system includes a 200 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide (with macro capabilities), and a 10 MP telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom. It supports up to 8K video recording. The internal and external selfie cameras are both 10 MP, with the under-display camera removed in favor of a standard punch-hole design for better clarity and a wider field of view.
The Fold 7 is packing a dual-cell 4,400 mAh battery (typical capacity ~4,272 mAh), supporting 25 W wired charging, 15 W wireless, and 4.5 W reverse wireless charging. It should be able to reach 50% charge in about 30 minutes. Connectivity includes full 5G support (mmWave and Sub-6), Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, UWB, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. It’s rated IP48 for dust and water resistance—not waterproof, but more durable than previous foldables.
Running Android 16 with One UI 8, the device includes Samsung’s latest AI tools like Gemini integration, Circle to Search, Photo Assist, and Audio Eraser. Multitasking is heavily emphasized with drag-and-drop, multi-window support, and a taskbar. Samsung offers 7 years of OS and security updates.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 launched at $1,999 for the 256 GB model, with higher-tier versions priced at $2,119 (512 GB) and $2,419 (1 TB). It was available for pre-order on July 9, 2025, and launched on July 25. Overall, the Fold 7 combines cutting-edge hardware, sleek design, and improved durability to deliver a premium foldable experience.
